KUAT English: How to Answer 85 Questions in 60 Minutes

KUAT English gives you 85 questions in 60 minutes — about 42 seconds per question. It isn't testing whether you can answer; it's testing whether you can answer fast and calm. Here's how to train for that.

The real challenge is pacing, not vocabulary

Most students can answer almost any single KUAT English question given time. They don't have time. So the skill to build isn't "know more words" — it's "decide faster." A 60% pass mark with this question count means hesitation is your biggest enemy.

Technique 1 — Read the question before the passage

For reading-comprehension sets, skim the questions first, then scan the passage for the answer. You're hunting for specific information, not reading for pleasure. This alone can save 10–15 minutes across the paper.

Technique 2 — Answer, mark, move

If a question takes more than ~40 seconds, choose your best option, flag it, and move on. Coming back with two minutes left beats sinking three minutes into one question and rushing the last ten.

Technique 3 — Build reading speed deliberately

Read English daily — news, articles, anything — and push your pace slightly past comfortable. Speed compounds: even a 15% faster reading rate gives you minutes back on the day.

Technique 4 — Learn the question types
